Trust / Greddy T67-25G

Posted on 24 January 2012 by admin

T67-25gThe notorious T67 Turbo from Trust / Greddy is hands down one of the more popular 750HP rated turbochargers due to its quick spool.

The T67-25g is a large hybrid turbo from GReddys T-power spec Turbos that are known for reliability despite the fact they are oil only turbo’s meaning they aren’t water cooled and also offer the great performance for the street and competition. The T67 is recommended for engine sizes 2.5L – 4.0L, has two exhaust housing options of 8cm & 10cm with V-band outlet and incorporates an extra large free-floating journal bearing with a large diameter center shaft for longer lifespan.

Garrett’s popular GT35r is the most comparable turbo to the T67-25g, in both size and hp rating but the T67 is more sought after as it’s known to spool up 500rpm faster that the 35r if you choose the 8cm housing, there has been some speculation that the T67 turbo is extremely laggy but its mainly due to the use of the 10cm housing, like all turbochargers you must choose the correct size housing as it will determine how much usable power, response and how streetable your turbo is.

Although stated that the T67 Turbo is for use on engine’s sized 2.5L – 4.0L, it is available in bolt on upgrades kits for 2.0L engines such as the MR2’s 3SGTE, matched on small engines it should only be used in high end performance as it will hit 20psi by 4500k and hold right through til redline.

The compressor housing has a 4″ inlet and 2.5″ outlet with slip-on connections, The ehxaust housings are divided T4 flanged with 3″ V-Band discharge. To sum it all up its a great alternative to ball bearing turbo’s as for the price of a decent ball bearing tubby you will get a whole bolt on kit with a T67 turbocharger.

Trust Greddy T78-33d

Greddy Trust T78 The Trust T78 is a widely known Turbo that is very popular due to its boost capabilities and extremely large compressor flow. Designed by Trust / Greddy and Built buy Mitsubishi it is one of most sought after journal bearing turbo’s in the 700hp range.

With well over 20 years of performance & turbocharger experience the T78-33d is from Greddy / Trust’s large hybrid T-power series of turbos that feature an extra large free floating journal bushing with a large diameter center shaft for robust performance, testing has revealed that some of these Trust / Mitsubishi turbos have better response than similar sized ball bearing competitors in certain applications. three different turbine housings are available for the T78 all with a T4 flange and the option 80mm or 94mm V-band or 4 bolt flange outlet with various A/R meaning choosing properly sized housings can mean all the difference in usable power. The T78 uses an oil only CHRA (center cartridge) which does make a easy installation.

Very popular on bolt on kits for the RB26, 1JZ and 2JZ engines it is not to hard to source one, you will have to consider that due to the size of the turbo the T78 will not hit 20psi until about 4500rpm, depending on the A/R of your housing, but it will hold it right up to red line. They have even been seen bolted up to engines as small as the CA18, the only other turbo that would compare closest tot eh T78-33d would be the GT37, being rated at 720hp and down side being a bit laggy I would recommend the T78 for drag / track applications, for drifting and low down torque I would be going down the GT30 / AX75 path.
